CONCRETE PROMOTERS' RESOURCE CENTER WEB SITE LAUNCHED

The ready-mix industry took strong step forward into the 21st Century this week with the launching of a new, online, Concrete Promoters’ Resource Center:

www.concretepromotion.org.

With the goal of assisting concrete promoters in creating broader awareness of the benefits of concrete through shared knowledge, enhanced communication, and access to effective promotion tools, the site supports promotion efforts for a large range of ready-mixed concrete applications, including pervious concrete, pavement and parking, site-cast tilt-up, insulating concrete form construction (ICFs,) self-consolidating concrete, and flowable fill (CLSM).

The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) developed the Resource Center with support from a full alphabet of concrete-related site partners, including the American Concrete Paving Association (ACPA), the American Society of Concrete Construction (ASCC), the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI), the Insulating Concrete Form Association (ICFA), the Portland Cement Association (PCA), the Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI), and the Tilt-Up Concrete Association TCA).

Resources are a Mouse-Click Away

Site guests can view and download promotion photos, videos and presentations, consult a directory of industry promoters (including Wisconsin Ready Mixed Concrete Association (WRMCA) Promotion Director Cherish Schwenn and WRMCA Technical Marketing Director Pat Bauer (plus me)), search databases of pervious projects and success stories, and review tools and materials available to support the ready-mix industry’s parking lot strategic plan and other key concrete applications.

Under development for the site and soon to be uploaded is a “bulletin board” forum, providing an interactive medium for questions, comments, and discussions about a variety of concrete promotion topics, including pervious concrete and pervious certification, LEED and sustainability issues, optimal utilization of existing promotion tools, needed promotion tools and collateral, and useful promotion practices for a broad range of ready-mixed concrete promotion applications.

A determined and incredibly patient Glenn Ochsenreiter, NRMCA’s senior vice president for marketing, led a reluctant ready-mix industry to this technical milestone, working diligently with NRMCA leaders and his counterparts in allied-industry associations to prod unenthusiastic memberships into embracing the future.

Glenn realizes submissions of additional resources for the Resource Center will be vital to maximizing the usefulness of the new site and welcomes and highly encourages knowledge sharing from concrete promoters and allied-industry concrete associations and supporting organizations. Electronic materials, as well as questions or feedback, should be emailed to glen@nrmca.org.

Glenn Ochsenreiter also recently launched a web log: Life & Technology, which supports the proposition:

Technology should enrich our lives without inflicting undue frustration – and sometimes does.

Help Glenn’s blog gain traction by visiting it and posting a comment.  The URL is lifeandtech.net.

Having great respect for the stewardship of NRMCA leaders and significantly less fortitude and patience than Glenn, I appreciate the effort he expended to make the Concrete Promoters’ Resource Center Web Site a reality.

My guess is Glenn has important insight to add to online conversations about technology and life.  I encourage you to tap into Glenn’s expertise, and add to the discussion, by making his blog a weekly must-read-and-comment.
